A man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after he came off his bike in the Brissie to the Bay event Sunday morning.
The High Acuity Response Unit responded to the Morningside incident at 6.30am to find a man in his 40s in critical condition.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the man reportedly fell from his bicycle at high speed near the corner of Richmond Road and Waminda Street.
Paramedics have taken the man in critical condition to the Princess Alexandra hospital.
A Police Media Spokesman as the Forensic Crash Unit was sent to the accident as a precaution, however it was unclear if the man had suffered from a medical condition or what the cause of the fall was.
The MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride started more than 30 years ago to raise money to support people living with multiple sclerosis.
Riders can enter the 10km, 25km, 50km, 100km or 130km events, with the start times staggered. The rides all start on Grey St and finish at Musgrave Park in Brisbane.
Emergency services could not confirm details of the injured rider but the 130km event, scheduled to start at 6.15am, was the only ride scheduled for when the fall happened. The next event, the 100km ride, was not scheduled to start until 7am.
