BRISBANE’S iconic pubs are coming back to life.
As the coronavirus pandemic restrictions ease, pubs and restaurants that were forced to close their doors will be able to reopen.
Under the rules announced on Sunday, Queensland venues can seat 20 people, up from 10. But from Friday hotels with multiple seating areas can seat up to 20 people in each of these defined rooms. Serving staff cannot move between these rooms.

But these restrictions have not stopped some of Brisbane’s most famous watering holes from opening their doors.
But the easing restrictions have not suited every pub with some venues choosing to keep their doors shut, or continue running altered businesses for the time being.
WHAT BRISBANE’S ICONIC PUBS ARE OPEN NOW
Breakfast Creek Hotel, Albion
The iconic pub is currently seating a maximum of 20 people at once, for one and a half-hour seatings. They are planning to expand to allow more people in as soon as they are able.
The Caxton Hotel, Milton
The Caxton has been open for a maximum of 10 people in recent weeks and filling up every day. As of Monday the pub has expanded to a maximum of 20 people who can come for a meal and a drink. Bookings can be made online, with patrons asked to limit their time to two hours. The legendary pub is planning on expanding to 20 patrons per area when restrictions allow them.
Pineapple Hotel, Kangaroo Point
The Pineapple is hoping to open for lunch on Friday but are unable to make concrete plans due to uncertainty around some of their suppliers.
The Montague Hotel, West End
The Montague will re-open on Thursday, June 4 for dinner. From Friday on it will be open for lunch and dinner every day. With 20 people allowed to sit in each room the pub is hoping to serve about 60 people at a time. Tables will be able to be booked but the Montague is hoping to accommodate some walk-in customers.
The Royal George (RGs), Fortitude Valley
The Fortitude Valley favourite will reopen on Friday, June 5. The pub is planning to allow multiple groups of 20 people into the pub’s various spaces.
Osbourne Hotel, Fortitude Valley
The recently done up Osbourne Hotel will reopen from Saturday, June 13. Further details will be announced in coming days.
Royal Exchange Hotel, Toowong
The iconic student bar is planning on opening next Friday, June 12. Beer garden and public bar will both be open for lunch and dinner with bookings to be made online.
Plough Inn, South Brisbane
Planning to reopen on Wednesday, June 10, and will in line with the restrictions at that stage. Further plans will be announced in the coming days.
Newstead Brewing, Newstead and Milton
As of Monday, both the Doggett St and Castlemaine St venues are now open for a maximum of 20 people. The popular breweries plan on continuing to expand as restrictions lift.
Ballistic Beer, Salisbury, West End and Springfield
None of Ballistic Beers three venues are planning on opening for diners at this stage. Ballistic Beer founder David Kitchen said the breweries would continue doing takeaway beers and deliveries but have begun planning to reopen.
Eatons Hill Hotel, Eatons Hill
The southern hemisphere’s biggest pub is planning to open on Friday and seat between 80 to 100 patrons across the hotel’s various rooms.
Beachmere Hotel, Beachmere
The Beachmere Hotel is planning to re-open its doors on Friday with about 60 patrons expected to be able to be seated.
Sandstone Point Hotel, Sandstone Point
The massive Sandstone Point Hotel will open from Friday. Across the multiple indoor and outdoor areas the pub is expecting to be able to accommodate about 120 diners.
Samford Hotel, Samford
The Samford Hotel is planning to open up from next week. The hotel is planning on seating up to 60 patrons across the pub’s multiple rooms.
Slipstream Brewing, Yeerongpilly
Southside favourite Slipstream Brewing are looking to open this Saturday, planning for 20 people to be seating inside the bar and another 20 to be seated in the outside area. Bookings will be able to be made online.
The Victory Hotel, CBD
No plans to reopen at this stage. Waiting for confirmation regarding how many people can be seated in various parts of the pub. Will reopen when they are able.
The Stock Exchange, CBD
Opens on Wednesday, June 3 for up to 20 people from 11am to 9pm. Will continue to open further as restrictions relax. Gaming and TAB will not yet be open.
Colmslie Hotel, Morningside
The inner-eastern stalwart will re-open on Friday, June 5 for groups of up to 20 people. Will initially be taking table bookings rather than time limited seatings but will adjust their procedures to find the best plans. Will open more as restrictions relax.
The Norman Hotel, Woolloongabba
The famous steak restaurant remains closed and does not plan on reopening until patronage limits increase to between 50 and 100. In the meantime the hotel is running a “steak-away” butchers shop selling the meat that would normally be used in restaurant.
The Newmarket Hotel, Newmarket
The inner-north institution remains closed but are working on reopening as restrictions continue to ease.
