Three lanes of the Pacific Motorway south of Brisbane have reopened after they were closed for more than an hour following a six-vehicle crash that has left at least two people with spinal injuries.
The incident occurred just after 6am in the southbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway near Stapylton.
Paramedics have assessed a 22-year-old man with spinal injuries, a 25-year-old man with a knee injury and a 40-year-old man with lacerations to the back of his head and suspected c-spine injuries.
All three patients have been transported stable to the Logan Hospital
The crash closed three of the four southbound lanes for more than an hour before they were reopened about 7.20am.
A Police spokesman has suggested the wet weather may be the cause of the crash and advised several other crashes have already occurred in Brisbane this morning, with a number of crashes occurring in and around the city.
A two-vehicle crash occurred not far from the serious Stapylton crash at 6:51am on the Logan Motorway eastbound in Tanah Merah.
A police spokeswoman said the two vehicles smashed nose to tail.
“Both occupants have gotten themselves out of the vehicles and have no injuries,” she said.
“One was trapped but he’s out now, he might just have some shock”.
QAS aren’t being tasked to this crash.
Meanwhile, a two-vehicle crash, which has since been cleared, in the Brisbane CBD left traffic clogged up to Greenslopes.
The crash occurred at 6:30am on the northbound Riverside Expressway near Margaret Street.
The two vehicles are reportedly blocking the middle lane with their hazards on.
And a four-vehicle crash on Francis Street, Redbank just before 6am, also caused delays and left one person in hospital.
Motorists are being advised to drive with extra care on their commute to work today.
