Brisbane traffic: Serious Bruce Highway crash causes major delays

A serious crash involving a motorcycle has caused major delays for commuters heading into Brisbane on the Bruce Highway, with two lanes closed and traffic backed up more than 15 kilometres at one stage.

A serious crash involving a motorcycle is causing major delays for commuters heading into Brisbane on the Bruce Highway, leaving traffic backed up more than 15 kilometres.

The crash occurred on the Bruce Highway southbound about 6.50am at Murrumba Downs and traffic was still being impacted two hours later.

Two right hand lanes were left blocked 500m south of Dohles Rock Road, with queues stretching from Pine Rivers Bridge to Uhlmann Road at one stage.

The lanes were reopened about 9am and traffic has cleared, with a few residual delays remaining.

The motorcyclist, a male in his 40s, has been transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

As motorists sought alternative routes, traffic westbound along Anzac Avenue was left at a near-standstill from the Bruce Highway to Petrie Station, with southbound traffic on Dayboro Road also being affected.

Traffic was also congested around Kallangur, along Marsden Road and stretching out to surroundings side streets Old Gympie Road.
