A man has died following a serious crash involving his motorcycle and another vehicle that is still causing significant delays for motorists on the Pacific Motorway at Shailer Park.

The crash occurred near the Nujooloo Road overpass about 5:45am, with initial investigations suggesting the 33-year-old man from Mount Warren Park was filtering through traffic on his motorcycle in the northbound lanes of the M1 when he collided with a car.

The impact caused him to be thrown from his bike into the southbound lanes of the M1.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was finally cleared at 11.15am, with southbound lanes reopening.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash and are appealing for witnesses especially those with dashcam of the crash or the moments leading up to it to come forward.
