Two people have died on South East Queensland roads overnight including a motorcyclist hit by a truck on a major highway.

The forensic crash unit is investigating the incident, with initial investigations suggesting the 27-year-old Dinmore man was riding westbound on the Warrego Highway about 6.30pm before the collision.

He sustained critical injuries in the crash and died at the scene while the 33-year-old truck driver was not injured.

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours after the crash.

Elsewhere, a 57-year-old Coorparoo man died after his car struck a traffic light pole at the intersection of Dornoch Tce and Gladstone Rd about 9.30pm Wednesday.

The forensic crash unit is investigating the circumstances of the single-vehicle crash and are appealing for anyone with information regarding either crash to come forward.

Meanwhile, a man in his 50s was flown to the Princess Alexandra hospital with “significant” chest, lower back, and pelvic injuries after a single vehicle incident on East Coast Rd, North Stradbroke Island, about 6.30pm.

On Thursday morning it was unclear how the crash occurred.

Minutes later in north Queensland, a small child was flown to hospital in Townsville after they were hit by a car on Queen Stt, Ayr, about 6.40pm. The car’s driver was not injured.
