Brisbane nominee brings a piece of home to Oscars red carpet
Brisbane Oscar nominee Lachlan Pendragon has walked the famous red carpet with his mum, who paid homage to their hometown in a meaningful and stunning custom design.

Brisbane’s Academy Award nominee Lachlan Pendragon has walked the coveted red carpet in Los Angeles alongside his mother Melinda, whose outfit paid homage to their hometown.
Pendragon was nominated for best animated short film for his Griffith Film School doctorate film An Ostrich Told Me The World Was Fake And I Think I Believe It, which he spent 10 months filming and creating in his mother’s living room during Covid lockdown.
Pendragon missed out on the win, with the award going to BBC front runner The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, which features the voices of well known actors Idris Elba, Gabriel Byrne and Tom Hollander.
He was accompanied to Los Angeles by his mother where he was spotted mingling with the world’s biggest stars.

Melinda Pendragon wore a custom dress created by Queensland’s Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, titled Woven to Our Ancestors, which features hand painted linen reflecting the skies and seas of Quandamooka - the Bay Area east of Brisbane - and is handprinted with the Woven to Our Ancestors design.
Cockatoo-Collins a First Nations artist from Minjerribah, North Stradbroke Island.
Meanwhile Lachlan is wearing a suit by Brisbane based menswear outfitters, Clay Rondo.
