RESIDENTS will be instantly alerted to new development applications and changes to existing applications under a new system introduced by Brisbane City Council.

Council recently announced it would waive application fees for new and existing developments, as well as launching a building and construction hotline.

Council received more than 1500 development applications between March 22 and July 31 – 22 more than last year – and has said that pending small-scale domestic proposals will be approved or denied within 20 days of lodgement.

The new “Development.i” website will allow residents to stay up to date with those developments. The site will also include an integrated street view feature to show residents exactly where the proposed development will take place.

Email alerts will be issued when submission periods open for nearby developments. Development.i will be available for public use from August 31.
