An insta-famous Gold Coast Hinterland wedding venue is set for a multimillion-dollar expansion into a high-luxury location which will include waterfront cabins and a huge function centre.

The Bower Estate, operated by Amanda Appel in the Numinbah Valley, has lodged plans with the Gold Coast City Council to transform it into a “premier function facility and accommodation retreat”.

New features will include:

■ A function centre

■ A permanent reception building which will have “exquisite views of the Springbrook National Park”

■ 18 one-bedroom eco cabins and a pair of two-bedroom cabins.

■ A day spa

■ A caretaker’s house.

A distillery and helipad at the site had been proposed but have now scrapped the features.

They argue the expansion will “significantly enhance the Hinterland tourism offering”.

“The progression seeks to transition the temporary nature of the current buildings into permanent structures,” a planned report lodged with the council reads.

“The design of proposed development uses the same principles that have been critical to the success of the Bower Estate, with a continued focus on preserving the environmental values of the site, while showcasing the hinterland values of the Gold Coast through a unique function and events offering.

“The project location lends itself to unique environmental opportunities that are unparalleled, with unique views and vistas that make the property a drawcard for a range of locals and tourists alike.”

The estate has operated as a wedding venue since 2018.

According to the report, the eco cabins will be open to the public for nature-based accommodation when there are no weddings booked for the site.

The project is expected to be delivered in four stages.

Ms Appel last year announced she had teamed up with prolific restaurateurs Daniel and Ruggie Ridgeway to transform the run-down Eco Studio Fellini at Mudgeeraba into a “one-of-a-kind” wedding and events space called Kwila Lodge.
