Bluey has been slammed by Aussies for “betraying Australia” after the beloved children’s series seemingly forgot Father’s Day isn’t on a shared date globally.
Despite Bluey very evidently being a Queenslander living in Brisbane, a post on the Bluey Instagram page wished fathers a Happy Father’s Day on Sunday.
“Happy Father’s Day to all the Bandits out there #Bluey #FathersDay,” the post read.
Fans of the show were quick to point out Fathers Day in Bluey’s homeland of Australia is in September, not June.
One mum told the Bluey page to check Wikipedia for the latest information on when Father’s Day is celebrated.
“Mum of an Aus-merican kid here! Father’s Day in Australia is in September. So you can NOT blanket Father’s Day on USA Father’s Day. Go check Wikipedia for all the VARIOUS Father’s/Dad’s Days around the world,” she said.
Another commenter said Bandit is an Australian Dad and therefore Father’s Day should be celebrated in September.
“Bluey is in Australia so why would others countries dates be relevant?! Betrayed,” they said.
Fans from other countries were less concerned about what date Father’s Day is celebrated, with comments ranging from wishing Bandit a happy birthday to wishing they were as cool as Bandit.
No matter what day it is, there’s one thing fans do agree on: Bandit is a great dad.
