Beenleigh, Gold Coast lines to close for rail works
No trains will run on some southside lines, including on Beenleigh and Gold Coast, from late September with buses scheduled to take passengers to and from certain destinations.
Commuters on Brisbane’s southside are being urged to plan ahead, with major train closures set to disrupt travel on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines from late September through to mid-October.
No trains will run between September 20 and 28, with buses replacing all services while crews carry out critical works on a range of rail infrastructure projects including the Loganlea Station Relocation, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, and the Ormeau rail facility as part of the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program.
From September 29 to October 11, services will partially resume with trains running a combined timetable between Banoon and Varsity Lakes.
On Sunday, October 12, trains will be diverted via the Tennyson loop before full services are restored.
The shutdown, which is part of a once-in-a-generation transformation of South East Queensland’s rail network, is expected to affect thousands of daily passengers.
TransLink has advised that replacement buses will operate across key stations, with timetables and stop locations listed on its website.
The closures will impact both weekday commuters and weekend travellers, with southeast Queensland’s busiest intercity corridor temporarily cut.
Authorities are warning passengers to allow extra time for journeys and check the latest updates before travelling.
The temporary disruptions are part of extensive track and signalling upgrades required to integrate the new infrastructure.
