Furious Bank of Queensland customers have taken to social media complaining about transactions being declined but money still being taken out of their accounts.
The bank has issued a statement after customers flooded its Facebook site to complain about being unable to pay for goods or withdraw cash.
One woman said her debit card had been declined as she tried to check out of her accommodation in Bali.
“I’m in Bali and trying to check out this morning using cards (mine & husbands debit cards)all declined several times,” she wrote.
“Luckily for us we had cash left and able to change AUD to pay the bill. Hopefully BOQ get this sorted as it was very stressful. A simple email to all customers could have avoided this.”
Another woman said she had been unable to buy her daughter’s birthday present after her card was declined three times and she could not get cash from the ATM.
“Not happy Jan!,” she posted.
“I have just hung up from being on hold for 2hrs and 38 secs, yes, I know, more fool me but an sms would’ve been great!”
Another customer wrote: “This is crazy, BOQ thanks for not letting me pay for groceries. You are an absolute Joke BOQ. Heads will roll Monday when I go into the branch.”
BOQ issued a statement on Saturday afternoon saying it was “working through intermittent issues affecting BOQ debit cards”.
“We’re working to resolve these issues as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience,” it said in an SMS to customers.
BOQ has also had problems with a new mobile banking app, with a scheduled update earlier this month hit by technical issues.
