Australian Idol star Stan Walker has shared heartbreaking news after “priceless” items went missing while he was performing on stage at a Gold Coast music festival over the weekend, offering a reward for their return.
Walker, who won Australian Idol in 2009 and later battled a mutated cancer gene, returned home to New Zealand after performing at Promiseland music festival on the Gold Coast on the weekend.
“Basically I had a bag with … all my taonga Māori, so all my necklaces, rings that are priceless, some of them are hundreds of years old and everything was in there,” Walker said in a Facebook post on Monday.
“If you know anybody who might know where they are, please message. There’s a reward for finding this because this means more to me than anything.”
Walker said the green tote bag had gone missing from backstage and it included taonga greenstones, whale bones, necklaces and rings, with some of the items belonging to other members of his family.
“It’s not just my stuff, its my wife’s, my kids so if anybody knows anything from backstage at Promiseland there’s a reward... it means more to me than anything,” Walker said.
“Basically the bag has disappeared, I am not saying anyone has stolen it.”
The New Zealand artist performed alongside major international acts during the three-day festival at Doug Jennings Park on the Gold Coast, such as Headi One, YG Marley, Jorja Smith and Miguel.
