A mystery Queenslander who has a whopping $1.3 million fortune in unclaimed money sitting in government coffers has been named.

It comes as the names of another 500 locals owed $25,000 or more in unclaimed money can also be revealed.

Thousands of Queenslanders currently owed money gathered by the Public Trustee from utility companies, real estate agents, accountants, share registries, investment companies and deceased estates can search for their possible share.

Massive individual payments, including one sum of $1.3 million, are currently outstanding and Queenslanders have been urged to search their name and lodge a claim to help clear the deck.

The Courier-Mail has gathered the top 500 Queenslanders owed more than $25k each with a man named Geoffery Robert Chapman owed $1,333,924.40 held by the Public Trustee from the deceased estate of Joyce Morgan.

Other Queenslanders owed massive amounts include:

- Andrew Longhurst: $583,000

- Vicki Anne McKelvie: $428,000

- John Barry Cavanagh: $401,000

- Elizabeth Hockings: $399,000

- David Duc Quang Nguyen: $392,000

- Louise Krout: $388,000

The Public Trustee of Queensland Samay Zhouand said Queenslanders could have thousands of dollars waiting for them right now, they just didn’t know it.

“We’re urging everyone to visit our website to search just enter your name in the unclaimed money search tab, and it could be your lucky day,” Mr Zhouand said.

“I can tell you there’s one person out there right now who is owed $1.3 million from an estate.

“Last financial year we paid out more than 2,000 claims at a total of $3.3 million dollars.

“This year, we want Queenslanders to help us beat that.”

The Public Trustee of Queensland makes wills, manages trusts both discretionary and charity, provide financial management for people with limited decision making capacity and is the executor for deceased estates.

Money is submitted to the Public Trustee when companies lose touch with customer, including telecommunications businesses, government agencies and real estate agents.

Once a customer becomes unreachable, the business is required to lodge the amount of unclaimed money register, with the current pool sitting at a whopping $206 million in September.

The previous highest payout was $750,000 but this years’ highest unclaimed moneys total is $1.3 million.
