Annastacia Palaszczuk has left the country for an overseas holiday with Deputy Premier Steven Miles taking up the reins as acting premier for the next three weeks.
The Premier took to social media this morning to announce she was taking “some personal leave” until January 23 following a “very busy two years for Queensland”.
Mr Miles will act in the role until Ms Palaszczuk’s return, with the Premier declaring she was confident her deputy could handle any issues that may arise during her absence.
A spokesman for Ms Palaszczuk confirmed the Premier was out of the country on a two week overseas holiday, with her itinerary to be kept private.
It is Ms Palaszczuk’s first overseas holiday since she became Premier in 2015. It is understood she will be visiting family during her getaway.
The Premier’s spokesman said Ms Palaszczuk had already visited other Queensland destinations during the holiday period, including Burleigh on the Gold Coast as well as the Woodford Folk Festival.
Several Cabinet Ministers are also currently on leave, including Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman and Energy Minister Mick de Brenni.
Treasurer Cameron Dick is also set to take leave soon, and so is Housing Minister Leeanne Enoch.
