AMERICAN fast-food chain Taco Bell will have another crack at breaking into the Australian market when it opens on the site of a Sizzler restaurant on Brisbane’s southside.
Taco Bell will open in a new purpose built building where the Sizzler restaurant once stood at Annerley.
The original Sizzler building which had stood for 31 years was bulldozed immediately after it shut its doors in July.
Plans for the new Taco Bell restaurant were passed by Brisbane City Council in May.
There has been constant speculation that the Mexican food restaurant would return down under although Colin Foods Limited, which holds the licence for Taco Bell in Australia, had refused to make any announcement.
However, CFL no longer needs to answer any questions following a call out for employees.
Taco Bell has posted a job for ‘service champions’ on website Apply Now.
Applicants should possess happy, energetic and enthusiastic personalities, have a passion for outstanding customer service and a positive attitude.
It’s expected the restaurant will also be licensed as applicants have been asked if they have a Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
Taco Bell attempted to break into the Australian market in the nineties but by the mid-2000s it pulled out.
The fact it returns on land once occupied by a Sizzler restaurant should be no surprise as CFL owned the Sizzler brand.
CFL announced in June that it was closing its Annerley Sizzler restaurant and it follows the closure of Sizzler eateries at Brookside and Toowong and other stores as well.
