SWEDISH acting star Alexander Skarsgard has been spotted in Queensland for the first time, picking up a very Australian item.

The True Blood and Big Little Lies star was snapped shopping at Coles in Miami on the Gold Coast yesterday, where he picked up some groceries, including a jar of vegemite.

“(He said) that he loves it,” said Mel Peterson, who snapped a selfie with the star at the check out.

“He was very polite and said he was here to make a movie.”

“He said he would be here for a while and that we might see him around again.”

Skarsgard is on the Gold Coast to film Godzilla vs. Kong, which was previously filming in Hawaii.

The cast are spending their first day at Village Roadshow Studios today.

Co-star Eiza Gonzalez, who also shared a picture of a jar of vegemite to her Instagram yesterday, took to Instagram this morning from the studios, joking about the Movie World roller-coasters next door.

“The irony studios next to roller coasters, mirror of reality,” she wrote.

The Warner Bros and Legendary joint project also stars Millie Bobby Brown, Julian Dennison and Kyle Chandler.

Godzilla vs. Kong is the first major production lured to Australia by the $140 million tax break announced in the federal budget in May last year.

The film has moved into Village Roadshow Studios after Dora The Explorer wrapped late last year.

It is the latest blockbuster for the state following Aquaman, which has grossed $1.02 billion at the global box office, Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
