A senior sergeant is under investigation over allegedly accessing the police data base and removing a ‘red flag’ on a family friend associated with the Mexican Hoon Cartel.

A senior Gold Coast cop is under internal investigation over a claim she altered a car hoon’s details in the police data base.
The police Ethical Standards Command has launched the investigation into Senior Sergeant Leanne Major, head of the crack Rapid Action Patrols (RAP) unit.
The Crime and Corruption Commission has referred a claim that the veteran officer accessed the police data base Q-Prime to wipe a red flag on a family friend - an associate of the notorious Mexican Hoon Cartel - to the QPS.
The Gold Coast hooning gang has terrorised Glitter Strip suburbs, with local MP Ros Bates even receiving death threats for her strong stance against hoons.
“We need to make sure that there is an open, honest and transparent investigation (so) that everyone knows whether this did occur,” Ms Bates told Nine News.
A police spokesman said the QPS had received a referral from the Crime and Corruption Commission and ‘the investigation remains ongoing’.
Sen-Sgt Major has not been stood down and has been serving as an acting inspector.
