60-minute delay: Four-vehicle, motorbike crash on Bruce Hwy

Motorists headed to the Sunshine Coast are facing up to 60-minute delays ahead of peak-hour with the Bruce Highway and Gateway Motorway reeling after a four-vehicle and motorbike crash.

A multi-vehicle crash in Brisbane’s north is set to cause major delays along the Bruce Highway northbound towards the Sunshine Coast ahead of peak-hour on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to Bald Hills at 12:33pm following reports of a motorbike and four-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway northbound near the Gateway Motorway off-ramp.

Two patients were treated.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one of the patients is a man with significant pelvic and leg injuries.

It is understand the man was riding the motorbike.

One man is in a serious condition with significant pelvic and leg injuries and a second person is in a stable condition.

Both were transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Queensland Police Services issued a transport alert at 1:20 pm.

Three of four northbound lanes on the Bruce Highway were blocked, north of the Gateway Motorway off-ramp with motorists urged to avoid the area.

At 2.55pm, all lanes on the Bruce Highway at Bald Hills were reopened as well as Gympie Arterial Rd.

Police have left the scene, however motorists are still experiencing major delays of up to an hour.
