Southeast Queensland is in for a “gloomy” weekend, with the weather bureau predicting more rain, and possible storms, on the way.
Falls of more than 40mm were recorded in the Upper Springbrook area overnight while Cooloongatta received 29mm.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Shane Kennedy said most of the good falls were recorded south of Hervey Bay.
“Around the Gold Coast there has been 15-25mm ... the Sunshine Coast saw about 10-20mm but we did see 23mm on Straddie,” Mr Kennedy said.
Brisbane received 8.4mm to 9am.
Storms could potentially drop bigger falls in some parts later on Saturday.
“Isolated areas may see 30mm or more - closer to the NSW border,” Mr Kennedy said.
Storm activity will continue into Sunday, before clearing before the start of the working week.
