$165 burger at Brisbane’s Burger Urge: Gold-leaf bun, truffle fries

A Brisbane diner has added a $165 burger to its menu for a one-off event later this month. It’s no normal fast-food offering, but is it worth that price? Read our review.

Rich flavour: Burger Urge's $165 menu item

Known for its weird and wacky burger combinations, Burger Urge in Windsor has taken its latest menu addition to new heights with a simple night out to escape the weekly spag bol dish – but potentially costing hundreds.

The Nouveau Riche, or “New Money” burger, will set you back a whopping $165 and will be served only during an exclusive event at the Windsor eatery.

The burger will feature a juicy Wagyu patty, edible flowers, a gold-leaf potato bun, truffle fries and finished off with a glass of Cristal champagne.

Burger Urge’s marketing manager Gene Munro said the latest addition to the menu had been made to turn heads and bring a classy side to the humble burger.

“Think of John D Rockefeller being old money and new money being the rapper who replaced his hair with gold chains … or basically any social media post by Kendall Jenner,” Mr Munro said.

“That’s this burger.”

The event, which has even piqued the interest of the Gold Coast’s Candyman, will include a full gold-class dining experience with an exclusive VIP cordoned-off area and a red carpet entrance.

The Nouveau Riche event will take place on Thursday, April 27 with the question remaining: would you pay $165 for a burger?

Isabella Holland’s review

The Nouveau Riche burger sounds fancy – and tastes amazing.

Burger Urge’s new offering, which translates to “new money”, is made up of a juicy Wagyu patty, smoked egg, edible flowers, gold-leaf potato buns and truffle dust.

Now if the idea of eating gold-leaf potato buns sounds unfathomable to you, the price won’t do you any good either.

If you can bring yourself to dropping $165 on the “burger experience”, you’ll be treated to one of the best tasting fast-food offerings you’re likely to get your hands on.

This perfectly cooked burger will melt in your mouth.

Coupled with a glass of Cristal, this meal goes down an absolute treat.

The truffle fries will also leave you wanting more.

A total of $165 may seem steep, but it’s definitely worth it when you factor in the edible flowers and gold leaf bun.

It is a must-try.
