Police say they have shut down a major drug operation in north Queensland, with $30,000 in cash, firearms, ammo and drugs seized during raids this week.
Sixteen people have been arrested and charged with more than 190 offences following Operation Sierra Minat, which was carried out over two days in the Whitsundays.
Laboratory equipment was also seized by police.
The charges include trafficking, supply and possession of dangerous drugs and weapons.
They are all due to face Proserpine Magistrates court next month.
Detective Sergeant Luke Scells said the operation targeted the distribution of methylamphetamine throughout the Whitsundays.
“We make no apology for taking such precise action in disrupting the trafficking of drugs throughout the region.
“This action has seen almost 2kg of methylamphetamine taken out of the community, ensuring it’s a safer place for everyone,” Sgt Scells said.
