Opinion: One Nation preferences can help LNP win Queensland state election
ONE Nation voters are being sensible — and smart, writes Des Houghton. They wants to rattle the cage and deny Labor victory at the same time. HAVE YOUR SAY

I WON’T have any qualms about giving my preferences to One Nation at the state election on November 25.
If it helps to thwart the increasingly insufferable Annastacia Palaszczuk from gaining four more years in power, so be it.
And I was delighted to see the poll in The Courier-Mail showing three out of four One Nation voters plan to give their preferences to the LNP.
That almost guarantees Tim Nicholls of a victory. Almost.
One Nation voters are being sensible — and smart. They wants to rattle the cage and deny Labor victory at the same time. What’s wrong with that?
Despite the wailing by Labor’s media cheer squad, the sky is not going to fall in if the LNP forms a loose nexus with One Nation after the November 25 poll.
Labor head counters are squirming over the thought that a One Nation preference avalanche will catapult Tim Nichols into power. Our polls show Labor is haemorrhaging votes in Queensland’s regions and will fail to make up the numbers in Brisbane and the coasts.
You might blame Annastacia Palaszczuk’s pathetic campaign. Or you might say the Labor brand is on the nose.
If Labor loses it can only blame itself for its sneaky move to reintroduce compulsory preferential voting. While it may help Jackie Trad in South Brisbane it will work against Labor in the regions where One Nation preferences will determine the winners.
That said I’m tipping I’m tipping One Nation to win Thuringowa, Logan and possibly Capalaba and I wouldn’t write off Steve Dickson in Buderim even though he has a mountain to climb.
With One Nation help, I’m tipping the LNP to capture eight seats to block Labor’s re-election.
They are Nicklin, Bonney, Hill, Ninderry, Pumicestone, Springwood, Bundaberg and Mirani.
Labor needs to get 47 seats and I’m happy to say they wont make it.
Tell me I’m wrong.
