LESS than a month after it opened, Queensland's premier has ordered a review into a juvenile justice 'bootcamp' after two teen offenders broke out.
The male, 13, and female, 14, have been charged after allegedly threatening a carer with a knife, attempting to steal a car and robbed a woman in her home.
Premier Campbell Newman says it shouldn't have happened and called for an explanation from the Justice Department and the organisers of the facility at Kuranda, near Cairns.
The review will look at the bootcamp's location and security
The government passed legislation in November to start sending young offenders to boot camps.
The pair were the first and only youth offenders to be enrolled at the Kuranda camp, which opened earlier this month.
