Queensland Premier called out by radios hosts for bouncing back on trampoline promise
NQ radio hosts have called out David Crisafulli for failing to spring up, after a pre-election promise on air to ‘bounce’ with the ‘tramp champ’. Here’s how long he’s got to make good.
There’s only a few days remaining before the Premier has officially broken a promise made to North Queenslanders, after he pledged before the election to help spring the sport of trampolining from out of the shadows.
While on the campaign trail David Crisafulli told Power 100’s breakfast radio duo Donny and Archie that he would ‘bounce’ with the ‘tramp champ’ Donny Watkin if he were elected Premier within the first 100 days of the appointment.
The eager radio DJs have voiced their concerns of being flipped off by the Premier, after having organised a gym for the scheduled spring, a supporting charity and a trampoline just waiting to be hopped on.
“This is more than a broken promise to a media outlet,” Donny and Archie said.
“It’s potentially a broken promise to the electorate. How many votes were influenced by the hope of a ‘bounce’?”
The Premier could have made good on the promise while in Townsville for Australia Day.
KAP deputy leader and trampoline enthusiast Nick Dametto said he will take the premier’s spot on the spring stage if he fails to step up to the plate.
“Blokes from Ingham do what they say they are gonna do,” Mr Dametto said.
Other MPs have weighed in on the potential bounce back of the Premier’s promise, with LNP for Townsville MP Adam Baillie saying on air to the radio duo that the Mr Crisafulli had been “bouncing all over the state”.
“I think it’s important we try to fulfil any commitments we’ve made,” he said.
The radio hosts claimed an LNP spokesman has said they intend to escalate the issue to the Premier’s office labelling it as ‘a matter of urgency’.
