Cairns brothel: Northern Belle for sale in new real estate campaign

The city’s only legal brothel has just hit the market for the first time since opening with a bang more than a decade ago – and there are plenty of interested parties sniffing around.

CAIRNS brothel Northern Belle has just hit the market for the first time since opening with a bang more than a decade ago – and there are plenty of interested parties sniffing around.

Owners Aart and Winnie Brons launched the sex business at 11 Cava Cl in Bungalow in 2007 and have stayed on as operators since.

Commercial real estate agent Knight Frank has now launched a campaign to sell the property – marketed as an office – with an asking price of $1.1m plus GST.

“First time offered to the market is this impressive stand-alone, single level facility situated at the end of a cul-de-sac with easy access and plenty of parking,” the campaign states.

“Northern Belle was purpose-built and is currently operating as Cairns’ only legal brothel.

“Improvements to the property include a single-level solid block construction commercial property which is approximately 550sq m and includes reception area, five large bedrooms with bathrooms in each, staff facilities which includes a well appointed kitchen, lounge area, external patio area, courtyard, office area, laundry, toilet, bathroom facilities and ambulant facilities.

“There is also extensive fit-out and furnishings included with the property with a full inventory available.”

The entire property is 1000sq m with a double lockup garage fronting Cava Cl, plus a drive-through entry and onsite secure carparking for seven vehicles accessed via an entry gate.

The property is also fully fenced for security.

Northern Belle is still operating with a Covid-safe plan in action, with wearing of masks mandatory according to a social media message to customers.

Mr Brons told the Cairns Post during the peak of lockdown in April 2020 that the industry was struggling to find a way to stay afloat.

The rules have since changed to allow brothels to operate with strict Covid management plans including stringent record keeping that includes client names, two forms of contact such as phone, email and residential address, and visit duration estimates.
