A performance oriented health and wellbeing centre which is helping Townsville’s children and veterans to take their fitness to the next level, has embarked on an exciting new chapter at a new location.
With qualifications in sports science, media, women’s health, strength and conditioning, and leadership, and 13 years experience as an officer in the Australian Army, Jillian Joyce founded PRIDE Human Performance in 2018.
Assisting athletes of all ages work towards being the best version of themselves, PRIDE was previously based in Annandale Shopping Centre providing performance management, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, dietetics, performance psychology, strength and conditioning.
With the Pride Human Performance Group growing to include the North Queensland Sports Academy, Pride Health and Fitness, Pride Exercise Physiology, and the recently launched North Queensland Netball Academy – Ms Joyce believed the time was right to relocate into the busy Fairfield Central shopping centre at the start of January.
After enduring a tough couple of years during the pandemic, Ms Joyce said they had drilled down to the core business of helping the clients become better versions of themselves, with a particular focus on giving local athletes the opportunity to match it with those in South East Queensland.
She said it was very easy in the modern world for children to become sedentary, compared to previous generations who were naturally fitter from being active outdoors climbing trees and riding bikes.
“Strength training is important so that they’re developing and avoiding injury that can just come with life in the future and also with our youth athletes … our first focus is functionality and injury prevention, and because that makes them a better, fitter, stronger athlete.”
As a veteran, she said there was a level of social connection that you lost after the Australian Defence Force, leaving a void which she aimed to fill by empowering them with strength and confidence.
“All of our services, no matter the client demographic, have a very similar core DNA, which is, ‘let’s know where you are, let’s see what your goals are, and let’s map that path and work together to get you there’,” she said.
Lancini Property Group asset manager Debbie Gelling was thrilled to see Pride Human Performance fill a space at Fairfield Central which had been vacant since March 2023.
“The partnership with Jillian and her personal training services introduces a unique offering that sets Fairfield Central apart, enhancing the centre’s appeal with an exciting new point of difference,” Ms Gelling said.
“Their decision to join Fairfield Central reflects the centre’s strategic location at the heart of their target customer base, providing the visibility and opportunity needed to help elevate their profile and expand their business.”
