A Queensland police officer has been stood down after he allegedly used excessive force against a member of the public in Brisbane.
Queensland Police have confirmed a 46-year-old senior constable from the Brisbane Region has been served with a notice to appear in Court following an alleged incident in August.
The officer was issued the notice after he allegedly used excessive force against a member of the public in an incident at Fortitude Valley on August 4, 2022.
The officer has been stood down from duty and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 9.
This does not mean the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.
It comes as Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced on Monday entry exams for police recruits will be made free for six months.
This includes the $215 Queensland Police Service Entry Assessment and the $20 Physical Fitness test.
“I want everyone who is considering a career in policing to come forward,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
