Queensland invests $80 million to boost business in the bush

Annastacia Palaszczuk’s reign is coming to an end.

That’s the forecast from a new poll, with many Queenslanders preferring Opposition Leader David Crisafulli as the next state premier.

The Resolve Strategic Poll, conducted for the Brisbane Times, surveyed voters from mid-May until August.

The poll showed Ms Palaszczuk’s personal support was falling, with 43 per cent holding a negative opinion, and Labor’s primary vote dropping to 32 per cent from 35 per cent, according to an earlier Resolve Strategic Poll.

In contrast, the LNP’s primary vote shifted to 38 per cent, up from 33 per cent in the same previous poll, with Mr Crisafulli clocking up 37 per cent support as preferred premier compared to Ms Palaszczuk’s at 36 per cent.

News of the poll sparked furious debate among readers - some staunchly defending Ms Palaszczuk and others insisting it’s time for change.

THOSE FOR LABOR

Contrarian Thought. David will suffer the same fate as Tim Nicholls if he doesn’t start producing solutions for the problems. People know this Government is pathetic but won’t vote for you if you don’t have solutions

How can the LNP fail at the next election with such a world class dynamic leader , feared by the opposition

Robert

Yes but Mr Crisafulli is still sitting on the fence about many vote winning issues, he needs to make a few serious calls on attacking landlords, the coal taxes, and unions being allowed to run rampant in QLD.

THOSE ON THE FENCE

Labor has all the votes tied up with our preferential style of voting and the huge slant to SE Qld voters and the Public Service and Greens.

LNP Organisation really has to smarten themselves up and be more determined and professional about getting them over the line. Its not a bush race meeting where the same people can do the same jobs every year.

Susan

Until a change to the voting system is made so there is no preferential and making deals with other parties voting happening, then ALP are likely to get past the post again. We need to move ALL elections to Plurality/First-Past-the-Post. The candidate who polls the highest number of formal votes – even if that number is less than 50% of the formal vote – is elected. Then we truly get what the PEOPLE WANT !!

Right is Wrong

Ah yes, and when Qld decided to get rid of Anna Bligh, who did we end up with? Yes, Crisafulli’s offsider Newman. And where is Newman now? He abandoned Crisafulli’s party because they were disjointed and incompetent. Good luck Qld!

THOSE FOR LNP

Ross

The only surprise is that it has taken until now for the poor voters to see this tired and lazy government “led” by our accidental Premier to be without substance and completely run out of steam. Even the thought bubbles are blowing up with it all hitting the fan, from Wellcamp to rental caps etc.

It’s time.

Show them the door in 2024

John G

The Qld Labor government have no one but themselves and their total lack of integrity to blame for this poll result.

Kerry

I say this gives Queensland the biggest opportunity of all time.Move this mob out the door in 2024 then move Parliament House out to central Queensland. We will only have genuine candidates standing for election then as the protesters, the trendy’s ,the unions and others who put their noses in the troughs will not bother to pursue their demands if it’s inconvenient. All Queenslanders contribute to making it a better place to live not just Brisbane and the people in south east Queensland.

Edward

The only surprise is that there are people who think she should be premier after all the incompetentce, arrogance, secrecy, budget blow outs, and generally making Queensland a worse place to live than when she got in. Time for a change...
