It was the $25,000-a-head fundraiser that has served up an almighty debate.
It was revealed that Peter Dutton’s election fighting fund was boosted by more than $320,000 on Saturday night after a dinner at the home of billionaire beef slaughterman Trevor Lee, and his glamorous wife Keri Craig-Lee.
The guest list read like a who’s who of Brisbane business and included Steve Wilson and his wife Jane, former chemist shop proprietor Terry White, a former Liberal Cabinet minister, developer John George and jewellery queen Margot McKinney.
Annastacia Palaszczuk’s pal Sarina Russo, the recruitment tsarina, also weighed in to assist the Opposition Leader’s march to Lodge.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and his wife Nina were among the guests and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie represented Premier David Crisafulli.
Lee and his family run Australian Country Choice, one of the nation’s largest abattoirs at Cannon Hill in Brisbane. And they have more than 30 cattle properties.
However many readers weren’t fans of the look, with some questioning if this is the best use of funds.
Others, though, insisted fair is fair when it comes to political backing.

What a joke

Would have liked to be a fly on the wall when Mr Dutton gave his thank you speech I am going to push this cost of living crisis lots of votes in that and by the way can you give me a nother glass of Grange please
Mick
Not a good look for Dutton. A $25K dinner with him? I wouldn’t pay 25c for his company at a fund raising dinner.
Jasmine.
$25,000 per head! Obviously no cost of living crisis in that neighbourhood.
Bill
Unfortunately, it’ll take more than chook raffles at local pubs and clubs to fund a campaign too get rid of Albo and his crew.
It’s a mess
Flung Parliament
Temu Trump, the pretend champion of working people in his element
Helen
I just threw up in my mouth.
Peter
It’s always interesting when political parties decry donations from wealthy backers until you look at where their own funding comes from. Yes, Peter Dutton raised $320,000 at a high-end fundraiser, but let’s not ignore that Anthony Pratt, Australia’s packaging billionaire, handed $1 million to Labor.
Patricia
They call it the Lucky county for a reason. Let’s make it that once again.
Can’t vote Dutton
Glenn
Lets not forget Dutton attending a LNP fund raiser in Canberra during the recent floods in Nth Qld which took him 2 weeks to get to Nth Qld and this is his own state.
DarylS
Our Temu Trump and his oligarchs.
Sophie
Waste of time and money as Dutton will not win the election. All Dutton has to do is promise to deal with the issues that the previous Coalition Governments (2013-2022) ran a mile from.
Ross
The LNP will need a lot of money to get this sad leftover “leader” from the Abbott, Turnbull, Morrison days across ant lines. The LNP needs new blood.
Abigail
It’s quite obvious that the LNP is only interested in supporting and garnering the interests of big business and their CEOs and not the average person.
I’m voting LNP
John
And, what’s wrong with that. The Unions give them trillions as well as other people. Let’s hope he gets more. He’s a genuine and honest man with no hidden Agendas except to do good for this Country, unlike Labour.
Axel
Ohh how the Labor rusted ons will complain, at least all these guests pay mega $$$$ in taxes, give mega $$$$ to charities, employ thousands, unlike Labor’s big Union sourced donations
Kathy
Thank you to the successful business owners in this state who are prepared to pay for the help Australia desperately needs to rid ourselves of the woke Albanese Government.
Perry
I don’t care whatever Albo promises they are a no go . the horrible mess Labor did to Queensland is enough for me
