What you said about LNP’s $500m Qld election health promise
The LNP’s promise to finally fix Queensland’s health system has sparked a war of words. HAVE YOUR SAY

It’s the election promise that has Queenslanders divided.
Ambulance ramping will be cut to below 30 per cent by the end of LNP’s first term in office and Queensland’s elective surgery waitlist will stop growing after its first 12 months in office Opposition Leader David Crisafulli declared.
Mr Crisafulli also vowed to set his Health Minister “stepping stone” ambulance ramping targets in the LNP’s first budget, should they be elected after October 26.
The LNP’s health services plan, described by Mr Crisafulli as “detailed” no less than seven times and representing a “seismic shift” five times, also takes in planks of the government’s existing plan — including its hospital bed build program and workforce strategy.
Premier Steven Miles, in Bundaberg, labelled the plan “plain dumb”, arguing the government is already doing many of the things announced.
Mr Miles, at the construction site of Bundaberg’s new hospital, announced a pipeline of 2500 more beds to bring the total number of new beds to 3400.
“We’ve seen some of the detail from the LNP’s plan announced today and it amounts to a reduction in the number of beds that we intend to deliver,” he said.
Mr Miles said hospital and health workers were already on boards.
Debate quickly surfaced over the promises, with some readers claiming this looms as a mistake for the LNP.
Others, though, said it was Labor’s poor record that is highlighted, while some simply pleaded for a solution.

WHAT YOU SAID
Our hospitals are a mess

Einstein is attributed with saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing but expecting a different result. If you want things to improve from what’s currently happening in Queensland ( and who doesn’t?) then you simply can’t vote for Giggles or the Greens later this month. It really is that simple.
Ross
Unfortunately and time has proven it that the hospitals cook the books for what agendas that suit at the time and when you are up against a labor nurses union you have obstacles put in place not to achieve the right outcome They say it’s for the patients but it’s not
Mike
The last time ambulance ramping was brought under control, Lawrence Springborg was health minister. And he wasn’t from Miles’ side of politics.
Neil
With current population growth ramping will always be the norm.
Clueless LNP
Dr Crockcity JP
Sounds like he’s announcing work in progress and trying to make it sound new.
Crisafulli is already out of ideas
Gavin
Is Crisafulli going to resign if he doesn’t achieve these promises as well like crime figures. He probably won’t because they cannot be achieved and he knows it.
Cheryl
It is not true that the LNP has not supported the so-called ‘satellite hospitals’, what they don’t support is the name given to them, they are NOT hospitals, they are medical clinics or medical hubs or some other similar name. They should not be confused with hospitals.
I blame Labor
John
What has Fentiman done for the Health Portfolio except chase the Premier’s position. Don’t tell us what you are going to do, what have you done in the portfolio when you had it?
Steven
Please explain Giggles says that DCs plan is hopeless and “just plain dumb” but goes on to add that he already doing most of that stuff anyhow. So is that an admission that what he is currently doing is just plain dumb. Oh, we knew that anyhow!!!!
Judgementday
Miles, Fentiman, and Smith now that’s a line up of muppets who collectively know nothing about healthcare. LNP achieved the best performing emergency departments in the country when they were last in office and the lowest elective surgery and outpatient waits. So they will deliver what miles and his sidekicks messed up
ImOverIt
Is this all Miles can say? He’s a failed Health Minister. How intelligent is he to say “It’s Dumb”, no wonder Qld is in such a mess when we have a Premier like this.
