Is the Lucky Country no more? And who is the blame? HAVE YOUR SAY

The Lucky Country is no more, according to Des Houghton – and many furiously agree.
The News Corp columnist outlined his fears for Australia in the future following the 2025 federal election.
“I fear I won’t recognise my beloved country by the time Penny Wong, Chris Bowen, and Jim Chalmers are finished with it.” he wrote.
“In my crystal ball I see keffiyehs becoming a fashion accessory at the University of Queensland.
“I expect Foreign Minister Penny Wong will recognise Palestine any day now, thereby showing our support for a declared terrorist organisation that governs it.
“The Palestinian flag will fly high at progressive high schools, as it already does on Crown land on North Stradbroke Island.”
And there’s more, according to Des.
“Next it will be Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ unpleasant duty to raise taxes after the startling revelation that most Australian households receive more in benefits (cash and in-kind) that they pay in taxes,” he wrote.
“Superannuants who greedily hoarded funds will be hardest hit. There will be an exodus of self-funded retirees to New Zealand in a bid to escape the raids on their nest eggs.
“I’m expecting Chalmers will also abolish the Reserve Bank, at the behest of the ACTU. The bank’s governors will be arrested for hate speech for criticising the taxation of unrealised capital gains.”
The list went on but many readers had seen enough.
In a furious online debate, some claimed the LNP is to blame for the nation’s perilous state.
Others, though, singled out Labor, while many said it no longer mattered … the damage has been done.

WHAT YOU SAID
I blame LNP

While it is easy to blame the younger generation for labour winning the election it is the coalition who should be bearing the blame. Would be the worst performance by an opposition I have seen.

Someone has to take a stand and form a Political Party that’s gunna listen to the people.

Govt’s are voted out, not in. Two terms will be all she wrote. Doesn’t matter what shape the Libs are in.

A government is only as good as its opposition. I’m not sure we have an effective opposition in Australia anymore.
I blame Labor
