Labor ‘destroyed the fabric of QLD’ while Crisafulli, parents in the firing line
Is it an impossible task or just a stunt to be elected? The state is split on whether David Crisafulli should fall on his sword if he can’t fix the youth crime crisis in a term. WHAT YOU SAID

Whether David Crisafulli can fix the state’s youth crime crisis or not before the next state election has sparked serious debate.
Readers have shared their thoughts after mother-of-two and Sunday Mail columnist Madonna King declared Queenslanders will never forgive Premier David Crisafulli if he doesn’t keep his promise to fix youth crime.
Parts of South East Queensland have been impacted by severe crime waves, locking their doors and baring their windows nightly.
Some readers disagreed with the article’s sentiment, and said it takes time to fix a problem which had been created through decades of neglect, and the LNP is doing a better job at cleaning it up.
But some are still adamant Mr Crisafulli isn’t doing enough, and ‘Adult Crime, Adult Time’ was only there to help win the election.

WHAT YOU SAID
Give him time
MM2
If he can’t fix in one term what the Labor Party so royally messed up across many terms, I think I would still give him another chance before welcoming back Labor.
KAYMAR
Give him a chance! It’s a problem of generational making. Will take time to fix!
SARAH
This will take years to fix after the Labor Party destroyed this state. It won’t be fixed in a year.
ALAN
It has taken years of neglect by the previous government for the crime to get as bad as it is. Give the new government time to turn it around. The whole community is responsible for the conduct of the children growing up everyone has to step up for the kids.
KEVIN
People must suffer with amnesia if they forget what Labor have done to Queensland. It will take more than one term to turn that around.
MYSTICKLE
You really think he can fix in 6mths what Labor allowed in 10yrs? You are going to have to be patient.
Vote him out
ROY
Rubbish. He can fix it in one year if he is serious. Time to step up and make hard decisions and ignore the loud mouth minority. If he can’t do that he deserves to get voted out.
KERRI
How long has the community been dealing with this now. One would have thought that before they made the promise the current government would have had some idea of how they were going to proceed otherwise it was just a promise to get elected. They were spruiking “adult crime adult time” all through the election. What inroads have been made on this and will any move towards this happen before they are unelected at the end of their term?
STEPHEN
We don’t have time. That’s an excuse. Adult crime adult time was promised, and it’s what we voted for. Get going Premier.
GAVIN
Crisafulli has 4 years otherwise has to resign. That’s what was promised.
Rather LNP than Labor
KRISTINE
Can’t ever vote for Labor, the architect of this mess, ever in my lifetime, so I’d have to give Crisafulli another go.
MARK1
It took years of Labor’s incompetence to get to this stage, it will take years to turn it around again, but never forget who caused the destruction of our society, Labor must be held accountable.
GARTH
Labor destroyed the social fabric of QLD. Destroyed it. And the Federal Labor Party are destroying Australia.
PAUL
Hmmm, let’s see … would I vote for the bloke who is trying to fix the problem that Labor created and made worse AND failed to even try to fix, OR, the original party that caused the mess? Easy answer really.
ADRIAN
No one in their right mind would want woke Labor’s soft on crime approach ever again!
Blame the courts and judiciary
BUTS
The problem is the judiciary … they are out of touch with reality and fail to protect the law abiding public.
CAROL
It does seem that the ‘Adult time for Adult crime’ policy has not scared off the youths that are still undertaking these crimes. Once the courts start handing down actual adult sentences then maybe things will start changing!
PHILIP
The problem lays in part with the judiciary who keep releasing young offenders without punishment to reoffend. Only mandatory sentencing will fix that. Take away the poorly used discretion of leftist judges.
PHIL
At least he has tried, it is never going to stop under the current judiciary, minimum mandatory sentences are the only answer unless they can sack a few of the judges.
NOBODY
You can make all the laws you like, but if the courts won’t enforce the laws they have been given to stop this crime, then you have no hope. The current crop are Labor appointees. We need to have our Judiciary on 3 year contracts, when their appointments can be reviewed.
Parents should be held accountable
SHAUN
I’m not sure it’s the State Gov responsibility to raise children, pretty sure that's the parent’s job. Simple idea, if a child 16 yo or under causes property damage, make it the parents responsibility and them liable. Might wake a few soft parents up as to what their kids are up to.
PETER
Parents need to be made accountable for the children’s actions.
MARY
Bad parenting has destroyed part of a generation of young people who have no conscience nor consideration for anyone else.
CHRISTOPHER
One cannot fix youth crime if from early childhood parents and schools fail to instil in children discipline and respect for others. By the time they are delinquent youth it is generally too late.
JOHN
The sole responsibility of children should stand with their parents. When we cast aside the traditions of family values, ownership and responsibility for our children everything went pear shaped. That failure solely rests on the shoulders of the left and woke governments. I have children who are now successful adult citizens because I stood by them and took responsibility for their upbringing. This idea of breeding feral children and taking no responsibility must stop or else suffer the consequences.
