Kylie Lang on Donald Trump only looking out for himself

Everything with Donald Trump is transactional. It’s how he became a billionaire – not doing anything without getting something in return.

It’s how he became a billionaire – not doing anything without getting something in return.

Sadly, being transactional typifies the very rich – and the more money they get, the more ruthless and arrogant they become.

Walking on people, gas lighting them, speaking over the top of them and exhibiting other ugly narcissistic traits seems to be the way it goes.

There are exceptions, of course, as with everything, and these people are called philanthropists.

But you won’t find them, the truly humble ones, bragging or grandstanding like Trump and his toxic ilk.

These good people are generous without expectation.

Trump should be ashamed of the way he belittled and bullied Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House in a filmed virtual assassination that has been watched around the world.

The American president should be ashamed, but he won’t be, because self-reflection is a word he doesn’t understand.

All Trump – bolstered by a room of sycophants including J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio – could do was repeat himself, like the show-pony reality TV star he once was, stating that the US holds all the cards.

Zelensky holds no cards. He knows that, Trump knows that, we know that, and Putin sure as hell knows that.

What should have been a fruitful discussion on how to end the Russian-Ukraine war – which Russia started – was no more than a sickening take-down of an underdog, something we Aussies don’t like at the best of times.

I am glad Prime Minister Albanese reiterated that our country stands with Ukraine.

But I don’t expect Trump to listen or care.

He has his eyes on Ukraine’s critical minerals, and pandering to Putin is his default position.

Trump comes across as a man who will do nothing good for the sake of it.

If there is no gain for him, he’s out.

And to suggest Zelensky could somehow trigger World War III just proves Trump is a deluded yet very dangerous man.

God help Ukraine – and God help the rest of the world.
