Qld Premier criticised over Europe holiday

The battle to be Queensland’s Premier is heating up.

Treasurer Cameron Dick may have offered besieged Annastacia Palaszczuk his “full support” but his unprompted intervention has been seen as a reminder of his aspirations should the leader be rolled.

A 576-word manifesto was released on one of the most bizarre recent days in Queensland politics, just hours after leadership rivals, Acting Premier Steven Miles and Health Minister Shannon Fentiman, held a joint press conference where they were all smiles amid a barrage of questions about their intentions.

“I fully accept that, in a little over a year, our government will face its toughest electoral test yet,” wrote Mr Dick, who it was later revealed was unaware of his premier’s travel plans.

“But I do not believe the situation is as dire as some make out.

“There are 52 members of our Labor Caucus. I believe that every single one can be re-elected.”

Mr Dick’s manifesto fails to mention Annastacia Palaszczuk by name and doesn’t mention “the Premier” for 158 words.

Readers have already voted in their thousands when asked who should lead Labor in the next election, with Ms Fentiman the preferred option followed by Mr Dick.

TIME TO GO, ANNA!

Andrew

It will be Dick and Fentiman going to the next election. In which roles is the only question.

Ian

“She has my full support.” Hahaha. We don’t need an interpreter to understand what Dick is saying here, do we”.

Geoff

Cameron Dick would be an election winner & a great Premier. Let’s hope the Labor left realise he’s the best hope of stopping the LNP loonies from gaining government. Time to step up John Battams and do the right thing for Queensland.

Col Cannon

The truth for all the haters is that close to 80% of the entire population of Queensland live in the Great South East Kingdom, and we are happy with the ALP.....and Annastacia Palaszczuk leading a progressive, contemporary 2023 government. You crave 1980s government? … Crisafulli is your man!

John

This story highlights just how oblivious this Government is of the public’s perception of them.

Snap out of it you dreamers, you are all on the dole queue as of the next election.

NOT ANY BETTER

paul

He’s wasting his time Get rid of him too!

P

If Queenslanders vote wisely in ‘24 AP can take all the time she likes for holidays. Same goes for Dick, Miles, D’Ath, Fentiman et al. Bring it on. They’ve all failed.

Evosh

Did Cameron’s 576 word manifesto have anything printed on the pages or were they just blank?

Robert

Please, oh please have Dr Smiles take over. The LNP will sweep up seats like Labor Party enrolment cards at a unionist wake.

Troy

Most Queenslanders could not take another term of the ALP regardless of who leads it. It’s time for a change.....
