Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and senior members of the government will campaign for the Indigenous Voice to Parliament – and many aren’t happy about it.
Despite concerns it will hurt Labor’s chances in regional Queensland at the next election, Ms Palaszczuk blamed “conservative forces” for putting the state on track to resoundingly reject the Voice.
However she insists Cabinet members will continue to campaign, declaring voters will see the referendum and her government as “two separate issues”.
Some regional Labor MPs are privately concerned the Palaszczuk government’s active support for the Yes campaign could create further damage to its brand outside the southeast corner – with Queensland on track to vote No in the October 14 referendum.
Readers have been quick to shout down the prospect of Labor supporting the Yes campaign.

‘YES’ IS THE END OF ANNA

Good … it’s all downhill for our underperforming Premier!
David Cook
Let them, the more they support the Voice the more it damages the Labor Party
Jocelyn Banks
Really! Well I will do the opposite.
We need to see the Back.of You Both!

“Ms Palaszczuk has blamed “conservative forces” for putting the state on track to resoundingly reject the Voice.” it is always someone else’s fault.

Good luck trying to sell a product without providing the details on how it works.

Even more hopeless than I thought. Definitely not reading the room. Never could, never will, our poor sad accidental premier.
Cheryl
Once again Ms Palaszczuk fails to ‘read the room’. Queenslanders will not be coerced or conned to vote for something we feel is not in the best interest of ALL Queenslanders. It comes as no surprise that Palaszczuk and Albanese will join forces to campaign for this divisive ‘Voice’. It would be interesting to know if she has read just the one page or the many other pages that is the full Uluṟu statement from the heart. My vote is still NO and no campaigning from Palaszczuk and her Ministers will change my vote. It is also a NO to Labor at the next election. Out the door in 24.
GOOD ON LABOR!

Courage of convictions. Standing on the right side of history. Putting integrity before personal ambitions. What’s not to like? Our democracy needs more people willing to take the hand of our most vulnerable and stand up for them even if it is not politically expedient. I’m really hoping that democracy wins once the dust settles. When one side is willing to resort to the emotion of fear and distrust in our democratic institutions rather than to use logical argument to push its case, then democracy is by no means guaranteed.

A feature of the difference between the two parties, the LNP’s focus is totally on winning elections the Premier on doing the right thing regardless
Allan
The LNP can vote how they wish but the Labor government is taking a side and yet it is the conservatives who are the problem
MADNESS ALL AROUND
Bill O’Wheeler
The Voice is accurately dividing us along education lines, it’s become a Naplan Test for voting age Australians.
Terry
If the Voice is so good for the indigenous people why are there so many well known and respected indigenous people against it?
Paul
There really is nothing to see here, if one wishes to be an ALP Member in any Parliament, they simply must toe the party line, no matter how undesirable the line may be, the PM has stuffed the “Voice” campaign and his lemming like followers are in lock step behind him.
Adrian
The premier and prime minister should be taking a neutral stance on the Voice. Why are they trying to manipulate the Australian people’s right to exercise their freedom to choose what they believe is in the best interests of all Australians. And I am not flying with Qantas again either. It’s not a government owned company!

Last time I checked, Queensland was a democracy in which conservative “forces” were entitled to have an opinion. The division is an inherent feature of the Voice proposal which seeks to divide the country based on race.
