‘Disgustingly weak’: Foreign Minister Penny Wong is ‘not doing her job’

What do you call someone like Penny Wong, so quick to believe the lies of Islamist terrorists and even quicker to damn Jewish Israel?

Once again our Foreign Minister has shamed Australia by tweeting she “condemns” Israel for supposedly slaughtering “innocent Palestinians” in a strike on a school in Gaza at dawn on Saturday.

“Israel must comply with international humanitarian law,” Wong declared, clearly implying Israel had broken it.

Can Wong really be that stupid, biased or dishonest? Ditto the journalists who immediately repeated Hamas claims that Israel’s strike on the Al-Tabeen school had killed 70 people sheltering there. No, 80! Sorry, 90!

No, no, insisted our ABC. “Around 100 Palestinians have been killed,” it claimed, citing “Palestinian authorities”.

Dear Ms Wong. Dear ABC, these “Palestinian authorities” are actually members or employees of Hamas, a genocidal terror group that lies repeatedly.

Wong should know this better than most, having fallen for Hamas propaganda before. Last October, Hamas claimed 471 people died in an Israeli bombing of the Al-Ahli hospital, and Wong tweeted she’d passed on her “deepest condolences” to Nasser Mashni, head of the Australian Palestinian Advocacy Network and so extreme that he calls for the end of Israel.

But Israel was innocent; the hospital wasn’t hit. A misfiring Islamic Jihad rocket had fallen in its carpark, killing only a fraction of the “471” victims.

Yet Wong has now done it again. Israel’s defence force said it hit a Hamas post hidden in the school and killed 19 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists. It issued their names, ranks and photos.

The IDF said its professional analysis concluded the three small precision rockets it fired could not “cause the amount of damage that is being reported by the Hamas-run government”, and surveillance and intelligence suggested no women or children were killed. The bodies I’ve seen photographed at the site, uncovered, were of men.

No, that’s certainly not conclusive. But hours after the dawn bombing, nearly 3pm, the Palestinian Ministry for Health posted on Facebook its regular update on casualties of Israeli strikes, and said the toll over the previous 24 hours was just 40, in three attacks. It didn’t say the school attack was excluded.

Indeed, if anyone broke international law it was Hamas, again using a school or hospital as a base, hoping Israel would get vilified if it fought back.

And Wong fell for it. Again.
