In the latest incident a young petrol station worker was allegedly stabbed while trying to stop two thieves from pocketing items from an Alice Springs store.
On Sunday, NT Police said that two men remain at large after allegedly pushing over the 26-year-old service station worker, punching him to the head while another “lunged” at him with an edged weapon.
It has been alleged that the worker tried to confront the two men after noticing they were attempting to steal items from the Sadadeen store around 10.40am, Sunday April 27.
“The shop worker noted the two males trying to steal items and when they left the store with the goods,” a police spokesman said.
“The 26-year-old staff member approached them and asked for the items to be returned.”
CCTV reportedly captured one of the men pushing the worker to the ground, before punching him to the head.
While the victim was still on the ground the other man allegedly lunged at him with an edged weapon, stabbing him once to the forearm.
Police said the 26-year-old’s injuries were not life threatening.
It was alleged the two men walked away from the bleeding man, with police called immediately after they left — 10 minutes after the initial confrontation.
NT Police have released images of two people who may be able to assist with the investigation, but have warned members of the public from approaching them.
Instead, anyone with information or who may know the two individuals have been asked to call 131 444 and reference job number P25115298.
