A teen has been killed in a horror crash involving a car and two off-road dirt bikes.

An NT Police spokesman said the 15-year-old boy – who had been riding one of the motorbikes – was declared dead at the scene about 8.15pm Tuesday.

The spokesman said the 14-year-old rider of the other dirt bike suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the Girraween Rd crash.

He said the boy was treated for his injuries at the scene before being taken to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The spokesman said the 38-year-old driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and offered help.

He said the driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs and was helping the Major Crash unit with their investigation.

Detectives have urged any witnesses to come forward with information and contact police via 131 444 and quote reference NTP2400043132.

The tragedy brings the Territory’s road toll to 20, compared to just four this time last year.
