Property development giant Meriton has terminated the contracts of casual workers allegedly involved in a wild brawl involving dozens of tradies outside one of their job sites in Sydney’s northwest.

It comes after minute-long footage of the fight emerged, in which a large number of tradies can be seen attacking each other with a flurry of punches and kicks as well as smacking each other over the head with hard hats.

The incident unfolded shortly before 7am on Tuesday, when officers responded to reports of a brawl involving more than 20 people in Sexton Avenue in Castle Hill.

The video show some of the wearing Meriton branded hi-vis.

A Meriton spokesperson on Tuesday afternoon said no direct Meriton employees were involved in the scuffle outside its Castle Hill construction site, but some contractors involved in the fight had been immediately terminated.

The all-in brawl breaks out in the middle of the street before splitting into several smaller fights, lasting several minutes.

By the time police arrived, most of those involved had already dispersed.

Police said the fight appeared to involve two groups wearing hi-vis and construction attire.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated two men, aged 43 and 55, at the scene before transporting them to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries.

It is unclear what sparked the brawl.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information about the incident – or who may have dashcam or mobile footage – to contact Castle Hill Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Meriton spokesperson said that no direct Meriton employees were involved.

“The contractors involved in the fight have been immediately terminated,” they said.

“Appropriately, the local police were called who have since intervened and we have ascertained that there were no serious injuries.”

“Meriton promotes safety and does not condone any violent or threatening behaviour on its job sites, whether employees, subcontractors or visitors.”
