What is the alleged timeline of events?

Matthews alleges that throughout their nearly two-year relationship, Mr Latham engaged in repeated abuse, both during the relationship and after periods of separation.

She claims their relationship involved repeated breakups — in May 2024, June 2024, September 2024, January 2025 and June 2025 — with each followed by “intimidation and re-engagement”.

One recent alleged incident occurred on May 27, when Matthews says Mr Latham arrived at her home uninvited while she was out, sent abusive messages and later attempted to control the narrative by claiming distress to authorities.

She applied for an interim AVO on July 10.

What are the allegations?

Matthews’ court application alleges Mr Latham engaged in a “sustained pattern of emotional, physical, sexual, psychological and financial abuse”.

Among the claims are:
■ Sexual abuse and coercion, including defecating on her before sex and refusing to let her wash, pressuring her to engage in group sex and demanding she call him “master”.

■ Physical violence, such as pushing her against walls, throwing a plate at her, forcing her out of her home and driving at her with a vehicle.

■ Emotional manipulation, including comparing her to other women, threatening self-harm and monitoring her devices without consent.
