Text messages on the phone of Mark Latham’s ex-lover Nathalie Matthews were referred by police to the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), it can be revealed.

The messages were seen by police after Ms Matthews gave officers her phone during her bid to obtain an apprehended violence order (AVO) against Mr Latham.

It is understood the corruption watchdog dismissed the referral. It is not clear if the brief has been referred to any other agencies.

The Sunday Telegraph does not suggest any kind of corruption or other wrongdoing by Mr Latham or Ms Matthews.

Ms Matthews applied for an AVO at the Day Street Police Station in June, speaking to police on up to five occasions after a relationship break-up with Mr Latham.

So determined was she that police officers sought the advice of a prosecutor to assess her claim.

Police rejected her application, prompting her to file her own AVO application in the NSW Local Court.

The latest explosive revelations comes as one of the nastiest public breakups in NSW politics continued to shock this week, with Mr Latham’s lawyer serving subpoenas on his ex-lover and tech billionaire Richard White.

The subpoena on Mr White requests communications between the WiseTech Global co-founder himself and Ms Matthews via email, OnlyFans direct messages, Instagram, X and other social media platforms.

Mr White has also been sent a letter indicating that he will be subpoenaed as part of the AVO proceedings to give evidence at the final hearing.

A separate subpoena has been served on Ms Matthews for her communications with Mr White.

Ms Matthews told The Australian the move was an attempt by Mr Latham to “intimidate” her into withdrawing the AVO application

Among Ms Matthews’ AVO application is that he made her call him “master” and forced her to have sex with other men – a claim Mr Latham vehemently denies.

He declared the relationship with the freight and logistics businesswoman and former OnlyFans account holder was “never a monogamous relationship”.

The sordid saga being played out in the public eye is a far cry from when Ms Matthews, an ex-Liberal Party branch secretary of Cronulla who first dated.

The pair had actually first crossed paths in western Sydney in the early 1990s when Mr Latham – as mayor of Liverpool – met Ms Matthews and her parents when they were living in nearby Mount Pritchard.

Years later, Mr Latham and Ms Matthews would meet on a Friday night during the March state election for dinner at the Sealevel Restaurant in Cronulla.

The pair shared a similar sense of humour – Ms Matthews also often engaged in brash commentary about female MPs – and then there was the sex – including allegedly in Parliament House. The use of tracking devices to find a “f*ck parlour. Claims of sex tapes and claims of “defecation” – the latter Mr Latham declaring on Saturday as “complete nonsense”.

The Sunday Telegraph is also aware of regular communications with Mr White – whom she allegedly referred to as “billions” – although the exact nature of their relationship is unclear.

Leaked texts to The Daily Telegraph show she called Ms Latham “master”.

Speaking out about the “sexed up consensual, open” two-year “arrangement” on Saturday, Mr Latham described “90 per cent” of his time with Ms Matthews as “great fun” with outings to the races and other sporting events.

“I didn’t make any moral judgment about her,” he said.

However, the other 10 per cent “could be dark and disturbing”, he said, describing the night of May 27 when he said he decided to end the “arrangement”.

Mr Latham said he had been planning to celebrate the failed Rosehill racecourse sale bid with Ms Matthews at her place as had been arranged that morning only for her to fail to turn up to her apartment, not reply to his texts asking of her whereabouts.

Mr Latham said it was after 11pm when he decided to leave, only for Ms Matthews to come out of a lift as he pressed the button to go down.

Upon seeing Mr Latham, he alleges Ms Matthews screamed at him “what are you doing here?” before she allegedly fell over “flat” on the foyer ground in front of the lift “legless”.

After standing up, Mr Latham said he and Ms Matthews entered her apartment only for him to notice that she is “covered in mud” down her front and “all down her legs”.

“It was the first time in my life I’ve ever been physically scared of a woman,” he claimed.

“This was like something from World War Z … zombified … hair messed up, the look on her face.

“And her response to me asking her two questions ‘where have you been’ and ‘why are you covered in mud’ was to whack me in the head, tell me I was an intruder to her apartment, and say ‘you’ve got to give your keys back.

“She was on a cocktail of something, I tell you.”

Mr Latham alleged Ms Matthews texted him an hour later telling him to “book a sl*t” at which point he blocked her.

The following day, it is understood Ms Matthews delivered him a frame photograph of his French bulldogs as a gift to his office. Mr Latham did not respond.

On June 26, after Liberal leader Mark Speakman delivered his Budget reply speech, Ms Matthews was seen at a table with several Liberal MPs and staffers, where it is alleged she shared the story of her break-up and later lodged an AVO application.

As Labor MPs this week condemned the behaviour of Mr Latham, Liberal figures were at war over whether they should continue working with the former One Nation MP.

Ms Matthews is seeking an order preventing Mr Latham from going within 100m of her, alleging an “ongoing, reasonable fear of harassment, intimidation, and potential harm” – claims Mr Latham has vehemently denied

In a statement from her lawyer, Ms Matthews said would not be making any comments while the matter is before the court.

“The full story will come out in due course in the proper manner,” she said.
