Police believe a man was stabbed repeatedly to his backside during a brawl that erupted following a cruise on Sydney Harbour.
About 12.05am Sunday police and paramedics were called to the wharf on Pirrama Road, Pyrmont, following reports a man had been injured during an alleged brawl.
Officers found an “18-year-old man with stab wounds to his buttocks”, they said in a statement.
Detectives believe the alleged brawl occurred between two groups containing people who had just spent the night on a harbour cruise.
Most of the crowd had dispersed by the time police arrived.
The man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Police were appealing on Sunday afternoon for anyone who saw the alleged attack to come forward, particularly anyone who knew the identity of a man they believe can assist with inquiries.
“The man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance and aged in his mid-20s. He was wearing a black jacket,” the police statement said.
