A Tamworth man who was tasered after allegedly attacking four cops who were responding to an alleged family dispute involving a knife has fronted court.

A Tamworth man who was tasered after allegedly attacking four cops who were responding to an alleged family dispute involving a knife has fronted court.

Brendon James Miller, 28, faced Tamworth Court on Wednesday facing multiple charges.

Officers attended Bourne St, Tamworth around 1pm on Tuesday to follow up on reports of a domestic-related incident.

A police statement revealed: “Police were told a man attended the home and threatened a resident at the home with a knife before cutting a tyre swing and leaving on foot.

“The man returned a short time later, allegedly threatening a man and woman inside a car with a knife.”

No injuries were reported however when police arrived and found the man elsewhere on Bourne St, they allege he threw the tyre swing and brandished a blade at officers as they attempted to arrest him.

Miller was tasered and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with 11 offences including affray, four counts of assaulting police officers without actual bodily harm, three counts of stalking/intimidating (domestic-related), destroy or damage property (domestic-related), armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, hinder or resist police officers and use an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.

He appeared in Tamworth local court on Wednesday June 4 where bail was applied for but formally refused.

Miller’s next court appearance in Tamworth is on July 14.
