Sydney and NSW weather: Early risers enjoy stunning Sydney sunrise ahead of warm week

Sydney put on a show for earlybirds on Monday with a stunning red sky heralding a welcome break in the rain and a last taste of summer. Read what’s in store for your week ahead.

Earlybirds were treated to a stunning red sunrise on Monday morning ahead of a mostly warm and dry week.

It marks a few days of fine weather and top temperatures in the high 20s until Thursday, when it will drop to the low 20s with a return to wet conditions.

On Monday, Sydney and Newcastle residents can expect a maximum of 24C, while it will be 23C on the Central Coast and Illawarra.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast “near zero chance” of rain in Sydney, except for the coast, which could experience some showers.

There is a five per cent chance of rain on Tuesday, while on Wednesday there is a slight rise to 10 per cent before on Thursday a 60 per cent chance.

“Patchy” fog will greet western suburbs residents on Tuesday while clear skies are on the radar for the rest of greater Sydney.

The weekend is also set to be wet with a 40 per cent chance on rain on Saturday and 60 per cent on Sunday.

Temperatures of 26C are forecast for Sydney on Tuesday and 27C on Wednesday, before dropping to 22C on Thursday and Friday.
