Sydney Trains advised people to allow for extra travel time on Tuesday afternoon, after a person was seen near the train track.

The trains reportedly came to a screeching halt after the person was seen near the tracks, just after 3pm on Tuesday.

Several train lines are now experiencing delays due to the incident, including T1, T2, T3, T8, T9.

It’s understood all delays were sorted before 5pm, however, social media posts from Sydney Trains from around 5.45pm did still advise people to allow for extra travel time.

Earlier in the afternoon, Sydney Trains warned that stops may change at short notice, so commuters were advised to listen to announcements and check information screens or transport apps before getting on a train.

In a video sent to The Daily Telegraph, a train guard was heard telling passengers on a Parramatta-bound service that the person was on the “wrong side of the Cleveland Street bridge” between Redfern and Central stations.

The guard said the overhead power had been cut off and police were on site. NSW Police did not provide comment when approached by The Daily Telegraph.

It appeared trains were impacted in both directions out of Redfern.
