Warning: Viewers may find the below footage disturbing.

Disturbing footage has emerged showing a teenager being violently attacked by a group of youths during a community fireworks in an exclusive north shore suburb.

The graphic video, obtained by 2GB, captures the shocking moment a boy is chased through the crowd at the Northbridge Community Fireworks on Saturday night before being punched to the ground, kicked in the head and stomped on by a group of at least five others.

One of the attackers can be seen taking a running start before launching a brutal kick to the boy’s head as he lies on the ground.

A security guard tries to intervene but is unable to stop the violence as the mob continues the assault.

Superintendent Paul Devaney, Commander of the North Shore Police Area Command, described the footage as confronting.

“We are very, very happy to have that additional footage,” Supt Devaney told 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

“We’ve already identified a number of young persons of interest and are revisiting earlier inquiries based on what we now know.”

The brawl broke out shortly before 7.30pm at the annual fireworks event.

Police received multiple triple-zero calls and arrived within a minute to find a hostile group of youths.

“It’s something that doesn’t occur in this area. This was hijacked by a small group of young persons,” Supt Devaney said.

Two teenage boys were arrested on the night — a 16-year-old charged with affray, assault, and assaulting police, and a 15-year-old detained for disobeying a move-on order.

However, investigators say the new footage is likely to result in further charges.

“There were people spoken to on Saturday who denied involvement. Now we’re in a position to challenge those claims and potentially lay fresh charges,” Supt Devaney said.

Anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
