A man stands accused of a vicious unprovoked attack on an 82-year-old in Tweed Heads which left the elderly man with serious injuries.
On Friday morning, police will allege Robert Leslie Rainbow, 37, crossed paths with an 82-year-old man on Boyd St, Tweed Heads, before Rainbow pushed the older man over onto concrete.
The elderly victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Tweed resident Sonny Daze was at the scene and said he saw the elderly man “screaming for help”.
Mr Daze stayed with the man until paramedics arrived.
On Sunday at 6.30am, Tweed Heads District Police arrested Rainbow on Wharf St and charged him with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
He was refused bail and will appear in Tweed Heads Local Court for mention later today.
