Randwick Mayor Philipa Veitch accuses Israel of murdering babies

Philipa Veitch has lashed out at Israel for ‘brutally’ murdering babies at a pro-Palestinian protest at the University of NSW. Watch the video HERE.

The Mayor of Randwick City Council has accused Israel of “murdering babies” during a fiery, pro-Palestinian speech at the University of NSW.

Philipa Veitch, a representative of the Greens Party, made the comments on Wednesday at a strike organised by the Students for Palestine movement.

In a video, seen by The Daily Telegraph, the Randwick Mayor was heard saying: “You switch on the news and you’ll see dead babies, a brutally murdered baby. I mean, this is horrifying.

“I believe eight universities in Gaza have been destroyed. There are no universities left in Gaza. Shame!’ she said.

Towards the end of her speech, Ms Veitch claimed “anyone who dares to say the word genocide is being silenced … I can’t tell you how important these protests are.”

When approached for comment, and asked why she felt the need to become involved in an international conflict, Ms Veitch told The Daily Telegraph: “The views expressed are my own, but I believe that anyone has a duty to speak out and call for an end to the genocide that is happening in Gaza.’

The protest at UNSW is the latest in a string of Pro-Palestinian demonstrations on the grounds of university campuses across Australia and the world.

Philipa Veitch was heard accusing Israel of murdering babies during a pro-Palestinian speech.

Earlier this week students at the University of Newcastle chained themselves to a couch after security attempted to remove them.

An encampment at Sydney University was also recently disbanded after two months.

In July last year, Randwick City Council voted in favour of flying the Palestinian flag outside its Town Hall.

However, the decision was reversed after the horrific terror attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7.

In a strongly worded statement, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry told The Daily Telegraph: “The Greens have become a party of undergraduate protesters who never grew up.

“The many hours which Mayor Veitch has devoted to haranguing impressionable young students with false and inflammatory statements about Gaza would have been better spent ridding the streets of Randwick of litter and potholes.”
