A man has died after a suspected hit-and-run in Sydney’s northwest – with a passing motorist alerting authorities after spotting a figure lying near the road.
A man aged in his 20s has died after a suspected hit-and-run in Sydney’s northwest on Sunday evening.
NSW Police said a passing motorist noticed the man lying about three metres off the roadway along Old Kurrajong Rd at Richmond about 7.45pm.
The motorist attempted to help the man, and emergency services attended, however the man died at the scene.
Police said initial inquiries indicate the man may have been struck by a vehicle
That vehicle did not stop after the incident.
“The man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 20s,” a NSW Police said in a statement.
About an hour after the fatal crash, police responded to a report of a Nissan Navara utility vehicle leaving the roadway and rolling several times in a paddock off Kurmond Rd, North Richmond.
The 41-year-old driver of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital for further assessment.
A secondary crime scene was established at the location of the rollover, and the ute was seized for forensic examination.
Police are now investigating whether the two incidents are connected.
A crime scene has been established and the road between Bells Line of Road and Pughs Lagoon has been closed.
